The Hogar Nueva Granada
The Hogar Nueva Granada is a private, non profit organization, founded the 29th of February 2000 by the CNG community as part of our social commitment program. The Hogar Nueva Granada was proposed as a solution to the dire conditions of the poor children within the country, such as: the lack of availability of education, the high drop-out rates in public schools, the semi-abandonment of children, the high rates of malnutrition, and lack of basic social services such as health and emotional well-being.
The Mission
The HNG seeks to encourage in the students of the Colegio Nueva Granada the sense of leadership for tomorrow, within a practical framework of social responsibility. The mission of the Hogar Nueva Granada is to offer children and adults of low economic resources in the neighborhoods surrounding CNG the opportunity to break their cycles of poverty and lack of education, by offering Hogar students an integral formative program.
Programs Offered
Presently, the Hogar offers programs in preschool, primary, elementary and technical high school to more than 470 children between 2 and 15 years of age. Additionally, it works under the premise that offering only education to these children is not enough, and must consequently work to enrich their environment so that they can better take advantage of their education. That is why the Hogar Nueva Granada also offers:
Making a Difference
- Nutritional support in the form of three daily meals
- Developmental workshops for the parents
- Safeguard through psychological, medical and orthodontic care for the children and their community
- A specialized center for the diagnosis and treatment of learning and social problems
